Type of Classes
It is the traditional way that has been passed on the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, from its birthplace in the city of Mysore, southern India, by Sri T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989), Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) and R. Sharath Jois.
It concerns to a self-practice, instructed to each student individually, so they can develop their personal practice during time, according to their own pace and condition, guided by the teacher, which at first introduces the student to the basic principles of practice (breathing, roots and core), then, gradually adding new asanas.
In this form of practice the students can really go deep into the teachings of Ashtanga Yoga.
In the led classes all the students practice together in a rhythm, where every Vinyasa is counted in Sanskrit (the traditional way), which refers to the exact numbers of breaths-movements, and how to approach each asana. This is where the student reinforces their knowledge regarding to the Vinyasa and all the principles of the practice.
A private class, where the student practices Ashtanga Yoga individually or in groups, according to their own pace and personal needs, supervised by the teacher. This class can be done at the student’s home or school, in a separate schedule.
